Cookie Policy
Last updated: 1 September 2026
This Cookie Policy explains how Monitron (“Monitron”, “we”, “us”) uses cookies and similar technologies (such as browser local storage) on monitron.co.uk.
1. What we actually use
When you sign in, we store your authentication token in your browser’s local storage — not a cookie — purely so you stay signed in between visits. Local storage isn’t sent to us automatically with every request the way a cookie is, and it’s cleared when you sign out or clear your browser data.
We set one first-party essential cookie, monitron_aid, purely to remember your cookie-preference choice between visits before you’ve signed in. It contains a random id, not any personal information, and isn’t used for tracking or analytics.
2. Third parties you interact with directly
Some third-party services we rely on may set their own cookies, but only when you directly interact with them:
- Stripe — when you start checkout, we redirect you to Stripe’s own hosted checkout page (checkout.stripe.com). Stripe may set cookies there for payment processing and fraud prevention, under Stripe’s own cookie policy. These cookies are set on Stripe’s domain, not ours.
- TradingView — if you follow a link to activate or use the indicator on tradingview.com, that site sets its own cookies under TradingView’s policies.
We do not use analytics cookies, advertising/marketing cookies, or any third-party tracking on monitron.co.uk itself.
3. Error monitoring
We use Sentry to catch and diagnose bugs. Sentry runs as part of the app’s own code and does not set tracking cookies in your browser; error reports are scrubbed of sensitive fields before being sent. See our Privacy Policy for more detail on how Sentry is used.
4. Managing your preferences
You can change your cookie preferences at any time via the “Manage Cookie Preferences” link in the site footer. You can also clear local storage and cookies from your browser’s settings — this will sign you out of Monitron and remove anything third-party services have stored. Blocking local storage entirely will prevent you from staying signed in.
5. Changes to this policy
A cookie consent banner is shown on your first visit and asks you to accept, reject, or choose which categories of non-essential cookies (such as analytics or advertising) you allow. No non-essential cookie is set before you consent to its category. If we ever introduce a new tracking technology, we’ll update this policy and the banner’s categories accordingly.
